The pastors' families all got together for a picnic at our house on the 14th. We had a really nice time together. Let's see-- Corenthins (minus Benjamin who is at camp), Christys (minus Jana also at camp), Monribots (3 kids and counting), Jensens and the Bixbys. We decided we should make it an annual affair.

Old friends are special!

The volcano has caused lots of grief this week for many people, but it has had its good side. We are enjoying having Eric Elmer and his colleague here for a few days until they can fly back home. Vernon and Jan's planned visit was extended. Last night we had our first cookout of the season with all of the above and Ed Christy and Tim and family.
It has been many, many years since we were all in CAR together and you kids were young. It was lots of fun sitting around talking about the CAR, the Sango Bible project and of course, our children!!

Enjoying spring
Though it has rained, rained, and rained, we have enjoyed moments of sunshine that remind us that spring has truly arrived. Last evening the sun came out for a bit and we enjoyed a few minutes in the park.
We were especially glad to have our camera back after two months in the States on furlough for repairs.

Visiting the French grandchildren
This is Dad. I've really had a wonderful time with Tim and Ruth and my precious grandchildren. That is the special bonus. I'm here for Marcelle, and have spent a good bit of time with her. There is no doubt that the Lord wanted me her at this time, and I'm grateful, but I'm looking forward to being back with Mom. And, getting on with our responsibilities there in the states so that we can get back here to the ministry. But I hate leaving Micaiah and Miriam. I felt we'd bonded last time, but I've really it this time. It has been merveilleux.

Le défilé militaire du 14 juillet 2009 à Bordeaux
Here are a few more pictures from our outing into Bordeaux. Though it included a lot of waiting, we got to watch the military parade that included all the branches of the military, the national police, the firefighters, etc. It was preceded by a flyover of four jets, who returned for a second flyover later on. The parade was supposed to have ended with the descent of parachuters into the square, but due to inclement weather, they were unable to take off from their base.

You have to be creative, especially when you're small, if you want a good view.

As enjoyable as anything else that day, was the tram ride (first for the children) into town and back. The middle picture is not my own, but shows the train crossing over the Pont de Pierre.
