A Visit to the Aquarium

Part of a Letter to Ben from Micaiah:

     Yesterday I went to the Aquarium with Papi, Mimi and Miriam.   It took 2 hours and 30 minutes to get there.  It was at La Rochelle.
     First  we ate at a park that was 3 minutes away. Then we went back to the Aquarium and we went inside to get tickets.
     It was so fun!  We even had some earphones.  It looked like we were underwater.  The doors opened and we walked inside and thought we were walking on water.  We saw videos about the Aquarium.  We saw sharks!  That was my favorite. We saw starfish.  That was cool!  There was even a tunnel for children.
     At the end, I got a bouncy ball with a fake fish inside and we went to little shops and we visited the town.  At home, we ate Dominoes pizza and after that I went to bed and fell right away to sleep. 

Part of a Letter to Patience from Miriam:

     Yesterday we went to the aquarium.  It was far way, over 2 hours in the car.
      We  had a picnic in a park. At the aquarium we got some ear phones.  A girl turtle told a story.
       I liked the microscope best because we could see some tiny fish!  There was also a tunnel for children.  
       When we got home, we had pizza!

Look Who is 30!!!

Happy. Happy.  Happy. Birthday!  It is hard to believe that it was 30 years ago when God gave you to us.  You have added much joy to the family and we all love you dearly.  Have a wonderful day with your own little family today.

Final Destination-- and oh, so yummy!

Back at Tim and Ruth's house, I was treated to an Oreo Cheesecake (several pieces as Zacherie saw the first coming to me!).  It was delicious!!!  And made with REAL Philadelphia Cream Cheese and REAL Oreos!!  Then I had some nice presents.  But the "bestest" were framed calligraphy (:-)) from Micaiah (10 Reasons I Like Mimi) and Miriam (Mimi's Kindness).  Treasures for sure.

My 65th Birthday!

"Parc Marjolan"  -- the first step of my birthday supper.  It was beautiful weather and the park is gorgeous.  Ruth had prepared a yummy supper.  The buzzer rang for the park to close while we were finishing up the meal, so we decided not to get locked in :-) and to finish up at home.

Mimi's Ice Cream Shop

So I decided to be "almost Frenchy" and invite the family and Coles over for ice cream.  Micaiah and Miriam were my big helpers.  It was fun and yummy and now we are getting ready for the big picnic.  I am sure I added work to their day, but Tim and Ruth  were patient with this  65 year old lady :-0

Our newest church member!

Yesterday we drove down to meet baby Oscar..  It had been about a month since we had seen the Licois' because she was not able to travel near the end of her pregnancy.  The baby is adorable and his mama looks so great, too.  Esther's parents  are here from Italy and we had fun trying to communicate with them.  They are a sweet Christian couple. Tim and family are going down on Friday.

Happy, happy Birthday to our nine-year-old!  We love you and have so enjoyed watching you grow up "next door."   Can't wait to celebrate with your Aunt Donna and cousins!  What fun!  We are proud of you and are praying that you stay close to the Lord as you continue to grow.

Steps Are So Much Fun!!

Zacherie and I had fun coloring at Mimi's today.  I was drawing Mimi and I helped Zacherie draw Papi and Mimi.

Since Easter Monday is a holiday here, we invited the in-town missionaries over for lunch.  That meant the Christys (minus Ed who is at Algrange this week), the Coles, the Teachouts, and Carissa and Anna.   Teachouts and the girls stayed around to play some games.  It was lots of fun and a good way to end the holiday weekend.

Uncle Dan is 40!!!

This is a big day-- Uncle Dan turned 4-0!!  Wow.  I think that is OLD, but Mimi says that is a great age.  Have a great day, Dan.  We all love you.

Miriam's Birthday in Paris

Well, we have a little 7-year-old who thoroughly enjoyed her birthday. Once again, it fell just after the start of winter vacation, and so she didn't have any school. To top it all off, we had a guest from the States, Mark Ring, with us for the day who hadn't yet seen any of the sites in Paris. So Tim and the "big kids", a.k.a. M & M, got to spend the day visiting the Eiffel Tower, walking down the Champs Elysées, and taking a boat ride on the Seine. It was a birthday present that fit just right for this little girl!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Mommy stayed home to care for the "little ones" and to make the birthday meal and cake. The chicken pot pie was just coming out of the oven as they walked in the door. So we had a great evening fellowshipping together, and a highlight for Miriam was receiving her very own Bible in French (and it's PINK, to boot!), something for which she's been asking for several months now. The timing fell just right as she is becoming quite the little reader. She has read the first several verses of Psalm 107 to us several times since. (The verse she is memorizing for Sunday School comes from that chapter, hence the immediate attachment! :) We all adore our sole little princess, and are glad for all the rose-colored pleasures she brings to our mostly blue home.

Miriam is 7!!

Happy, happy birthday to our sweet toothless 7 year old!  We love you so much, Miriam.  I wish we could be there for your birthday dinner, but I know it will be special.  Lots of hugs and kisses!

Malta and the Apostle Paul!

One of the special things about going to Malta was to realize that the Apostle Paul had actually been there (never been to Israel :-)).  On Thursday we took a bus tour to see the tiny island where the boat traditionally was shipwrecked.  Then we visited some catacombs where (again traditionally) he stayed for the 3 months while on the Island.  As you can see, Dad even got to shake his hand!

Zacharie talks to Grandma

After Miriam finished telling Grandma about her missing tooth, Zacharie wanted to chit-chat a bit as well. We thought it was pretty cute and decided to share a little of it with you. He really is starting to burst verbally (relatively speaking, of course). He's added quite a few words to his vocabulary just since we arrived here.

She's been knowing it was gonna happen soon, but a pork chop for dinner and a little help from Daddy made it so that tonight was the night! Miriam is now missing a front tooth. :) (Her third tooth to lose in all--first one on the top.)
