We have a blog called The Reading Room
That seems to be headed toward doom.
So we have decided to challenge our kin.
It won’t be hard and all can win!

For any book that you read this year.
We will buy another for you, dear.
The only catch is that you have to post
And tell us what you liked the most!

This challenge is for each generation,
Kids, in-laws and grands—attention!
Starting today if you read a book,
We’ll read your report and take a look.

Then let us know what your favorites are
And you will have another one from a far!

Rules and Regulations (you knew there would be some, right?)
1. You have to read the book yourself and write the report (age taken into consideration!)
2. No duplicates--For instance, We got the boys the same book for Christmas and the girls the same--so whoever posts first, wins.
3. The new book will be of the same approximate length, unless you want to save up pages for a bigger book.
4. No cheating, adults--kids books do not count! You must read on your age level!
5. That's it--happy reading and don't forget to check in on the reading room to see who is reading what!

The picture alone was inspiring. But wow!, you just made life exciting!

I just finished the book of Genesis yesterday. Does that count?

Why, Brenda! I thought you were going to say that he would love us for the challenge! It was the "cutest" I could find of someone reading :-)

No, Tim-- do I need to make another rule? No Bible books-- Although I am proud of you for finishing Genesis before the end of January!

It never hurts to ask. However, your maternal pride is enough to make my day.

I'm excited! Ready to go!

WOW!!! Totally excited!

Great!! Do books count that are read before today (between the 1st and today)?? Hope so. :-)

It has to be read this year--2009! That is grace :-) And I hear that bob needs to send out invites to the reading room!

If it weren't for rule #4, I think I would have an easier time racking up the numbers. Don't you think The 5 Little Ducklings I read to Stefan the other day is for all ages? I can even write up a nice philosophical review on it in the Reading Room.....

NO FAIR!!!!! Brian and I can't publish on there, and we've got some books to review. Bob you HAVE to send us an invite.
:-)

Wow/ from the looks of things, we're st couple hours of this post, it looks like we may have to be going home early and raise more support.

Wow! Mention the word "book" and look at the comments you get, Mom! Should
have thought of that a long time ago! Do you pick the book, or do we get to
pick it? BTW--I need an invite, too!

Thanks, Mom. Groan. Nice pic.

I'm glad you found a pic of the one time I read a book! :-)

Were we supposed to get books for Christmas? :-)

Donna said...

Yeah, Dan, I was thinking the same thing....I didn't get a book for Christmas.

Donna said...

Mom, You're so creative! I love you! :-)

If you don't have books, talk to your brother Bob. They arrived in Rockford! And talk to him about invites to the Reading room, too. Are you there, Bob????

Yoo hoo Bob! Are you there?!

Don't know why I'm suddenly being called Robert. I wanted to go on as Anonymous. Dad

I think Bob is deep into his classes in the bitter cold NORTH. And Dan, you and Brenda should be getting your Christmas book delivery tonight, please remind him! And Donna yours and Ruth's are being delivered by special carrier (Zoey), and Jo.... well it's just TOO COLD and I am too much of a whimp to go to the Post Office with Corban.... so.... the weather is suppose to warm up next week... keep an eye out for it then.

Patience and I are getting our book reviews ready to post... it's a good way to make the no-school cold day go faster.

I thought Bob's class was last week?

I hear a lot of rah, rah, rah...but so far Micaiah is the only one to post. Guess that is good for our pocketbook!!

JennieB said...

Bob's class was a two week class, he was home for the weekend to preach. He is a pretty important guy because I think he is the key to others posting in the Reading room -- AND we haven't even celebrated Corban's birthday yet-- I will post pictures as soon as we have a party!

This is going to get expensive, Mom. Brian and I have committed to read 104 books between us.

Anonymous said...

It hasn't gotten too expensive yet (one 9 page book!) but if it does, we can name our cut-off date :-)
Welcome back--we have missed you! Oh, and you and Brian can't post the same books :-) (rule #2)
