Visiting the French grandchildren

This is Dad. I've really had a wonderful time with Tim and Ruth and my precious grandchildren. That is the special bonus. I'm here for Marcelle, and have spent a good bit of time with her. There is no doubt that the Lord wanted me her at this time, and I'm grateful, but I'm looking forward to being back with Mom. And, getting on with our responsibilities there in the states so that we can get back here to the ministry. But I hate leaving Micaiah and Miriam. I felt we'd bonded last time, but I've really it this time. It has been merveilleux.

My Birthday!!

I should say "My Birthday So Far"-- can you all smell the feast that Jo is preparing?? Yum, yum!

The Hanson crew took me to Newport, RI today for my birthday. It is a really quaint seaside town and so much to look at!! We enjoyed the cool weather until the raindrops started coming down. After lunch at Panera Bread (my treat, in true French style--that is the birthday girl invites and pays :-)), we drove around and looked at all the "chateaus"-- truly impressive. Then we took the Ocean Drive and ohhhed and ahhed more at the houses and scenery.

Great day and great birthday!! Only wish the rest of you were here--especially your wonderful dad :-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Happy birthday to the World's greatest Mom.
You always know just what each of us needs when we need it.
We love the fact that your family is so important to you and admire your selflessness.
Have a wonderful birthday!
WE LOVE YOU!

Sisters!

Before it is too old news, I wanted to post some pictures of our time together as sisters and hubbies. We had lots of fun together-- and we kept up some traditions: dominos and shopping at A Day in the Country (I have not been there since long before Grandma died). The guys worked all day while we played :-) We had a precious time of sharing on Wednesday night at our "prayer meeting." It was a great time and we hope to do it again before we go back.

Patience is Baptized!

Daddy got to baptize his little girl this afternoon. We were very thankful that
G'ma & G'pa Martin were able to come as well as Uncle John and cousin
Becca. It was a beautiful day and Pastor Jeremy had set up a small pool
in the front "lawn" of the church for the 6 people getting baptized.

Papi's here!

... And this is the entourage that was at the airport to greet him.

Waiting

Here he comes!

Absent from the body, Present with the Lord

It is with sadness that we say goodbye to our dear friend, René Rottiers. He collapsed suddenly this morning with an apparent heart attack. Please pray especially for Marcelle, his dear wife, and their son, Daniel. Dad is flying out tomorrow night. Services will be held Monday. Pray for physical strength for Dad as well as strength to minister to a grieving wife and assembly. Pray for Tim as he ministers to grieving people as well. God is good to take him home so quickly, but it will certainly leave a hole. M. Rottier has been at EBPC since its birth in 1992. We are very thankful that he knew the Lord and for his godly testimony.

Christmas in August!

Tsiry returned from the States last weekend, and brought with him a suitcase packed full of stuff. What a treat it was to get spoiled with some little trinkets and food items that we can't get here! And the notes from friends and family back home were especially nice. Thanks so much Papi & Grandma, Auntie Donna, Mrs. Carol Burch and Erin Hurst!!!

With the Cheloudtchenkos

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief visit with the Cheloudtchenkos last Wednesday. We arrived just before lunch time, having brought the meal with us. JJ and Valerie were still at the hospital at that point, having had to go in that morning because of a high fever the day before. Though at first it was uncertain whether JJ was going to be allowed to leave the hospital, after a round of tests they sent him home, and we were able to spend the rest of the afternoon together.

We had a great time just visiting and chatting. Valerie's aunt, Erica Cropsey, was there as well, as she is with them helping out for about five weeks. The kids especially had a blast together. They played and played and played outside, making "chicken pot pie" in the sand (that was the meal we had brought along), building tents with a tarp, playing ball, and everything else imaginable. Because of JJ's current health situation, the family is somewhat isolated from any sort of regular fellowship with any other believers, so we determined to try to visit again soon.

On the way back home, we took a brief excursion through Biarritz. Being that it's still high vacation time in France, Biarritz was hopping, and so we didn't hang out there for long. But we did stop for just a minute to take these scenic pics.

Creation Museum

Mom and Dad and Tsiry stopped at the Creation Museum on their way back down south. They thoroughly enjoyed their visit, and I think it was a great experience for Tsiry to see such a large place so professional yet promoting creation and the gospel. (Mom asked me to blog and we're watching a dumb Hallmark movie, so blogging, I am!)

Travels have begun!

Mom and Dad's furlough travels have begun and Dad likes the speed he can go in the new car...oh, no, sorry that isn't the point!!
Notice that the car turned over to 200000!! Thankfully the motor is new!
