Micaiah's celebration

Monday was the big birthday celebrating day for Micaiah. He got plenty of sweets through the course of the day's events: cupcakes with his classmates at school, ice cream Sundae at McDo with Diego and Miriam right after school, and of course, birthday cake and ice cream at our evening celebration with Papi and Mimi. He enjoyed his sweets like a real 7-year-old, so much so that he didn't have any room left in his stomach for the chicken pot pie he had requested until leftovers the next day at lunch! He also enjoyed receiving 7 presents to go along with his 7 years (pure coincidence--NOT a tradition!!!) Among them were: the official France coupe de monde shirt you see him sporting in the above collage, a REALLY snazzy multi-purpose tool from Papi, and the croquet set you see Mimi demonstrating. We are grateful for our big boy, and we all had a blast celebrating with him.

Ladies Banquet 2010

We had a great banquet today. There were 30 ladies present for the repas "Un instrument dans ses Mains." Kristi Colas was the speaker and did a great job. She and her sister, who just arrived on Tuesday, sang a couple of duets, piano solo, etc. Your musical mom led an opera :-) Thanks Brenda for the idea to make the napkin rings...it worked great. Was sure glad to have Ruth here as my sidekick!

MICAIAH TURNS 7!!

Joyeux Anniversaire, Michée ! I know this is a very busy day in Pessac, but I hope that you are able to do something special! I'm sure Papy and Mamie will have a special party as soon as they can after today's events.
GROS BISOUS! I miss you TONS!

EVIAN!

Dad booked a hotel on internet yesterday for us to stay on our way to Nati's wedding. It turns out to be on a walking street in Evian, France--right on Lake Geneva. Here are just a few shots of the hotel, our dinner "by the lake" (and sharing it with friends :-), the Sequoia trees along the shore, and of course, the office of "Evian" water. More later.

Hats Off to a Multi-hatted Fam!

5 months, and then some

I'm a little behind on blog posting, and haven't posted anything about the fact that our little guy is now 5 months old! His appointment is not until June because of the pediatrician being out of town, so I have no stats for you. But I do have this picture and a little video clip of the first day that he tried out his new Johnny Jumpup thingamabob. (He has become quite a bit more proficient in making it "work" since the day these were taken.) He also recently discovered his singing/squealing voice, but I couldn't get him to do it on this clip.

I have roses!

And they are starting to bloom! Our yard may be small, but it came complete with two rosebushes that are beginning to produce beautifully with very little attention. They also add a delectable fragrance to our walks between the house and the car. A lovely little blessing that came along with this house! :)

Spring Concert

Tonight was the Spring Concert at Patience's school. It was special for several reasons: she had both of her Grandmas there, it made two concerts that this Grandma had attended in one year!(what are the chances of that ever happening?), and she got sweet kisses from her little brother afterward. Mommy and Daddy were both there too :-) Good job, Patience! We were all proud of you!

Miss A La Mode!!

A little bit of this, A little bit of that...

Here are a few shots of some of the things we have been doing. Patience's school had "Moments with Mom" on Friday morning, so Grandma got in on that special breakfast, too. Playing outside at Aunt Jo's was fun while it was warm and then when it turned cold we had supper at Aunt Jennie's ! Fun, Fun.

Random!

Beautiful flowers delivered to our door for Mom. Way to go, Dad!

Love, love, love technology! Stefan having story-time with Papi. I think the story was about a little boy named Daniel, but Papi will have to confirm that because I wasn't really part of that!

Time with Mimi. (coffee cup never far away!)

Meeting the Princess :-)

Just in case anyone was wondering, cousins Elise and Isabelle as well as Grandma got to meet Olivia last weekend! We were all impressed but I am not sure she was :-)

Patience makes a New Friend!

Patience with her new friend, Elizabeth George. Elizabeth gave her one of her books-- A Girl After God's Own Heart. She started reading it to me in the car on the way home!

Old friends are special!

The volcano has caused lots of grief this week for many people, but it has had its good side. We are enjoying having Eric Elmer and his colleague here for a few days until they can fly back home. Vernon and Jan's planned visit was extended. Last night we had our first cookout of the season with all of the above and Ed Christy and Tim and family.

It has been many, many years since we were all in CAR together and you kids were young. It was lots of fun sitting around talking about the CAR, the Sango Bible project and of course, our children!!

I'm 4 months old!!!

Well, actually 4 months 3 days by now. :) Haven't had his doctor's visit yet this week to be able to give you an update on his stats, but thought you would enjoy these pictures from "Mommy's Photo Studio" that I managed to snap just before heading out the door for church yesterday. Auntie Brenda gets the credit for the outfit, as she and her family picked it out for Micaiah several years ago!

Nati's Getting Married!!!!

Thought you would all like to know that Nati is getting married to Rebecca (not sure of her last name but those of you who have been to the Guetli might know her). The wedding is May 29. He looks quite happy about it, doesn't he? Seems that we will be heading to Switzerland in a few weeks :-)

Some Pics from Germany!

Dad wrote you about conference, so I think that most of these pictures are self-explainable :-) This was Reisacher's last conference as they are retiring so there was a special presentation for them. The view behind the speaker was the Rhine River--beautiful!

Enjoying spring

Though it has rained, rained, and rained, we have enjoyed moments of sunshine that remind us that spring has truly arrived. Last evening the sun came out for a bit and we enjoyed a few minutes in the park.

We were especially glad to have our camera back after two months in the States on furlough for repairs.
