We had a wonderful time with the Kalmbachs and so thankful that they made the long trip to Chicago and beyond. Friday afternoon we met up at the Weber grill downtown Chicago. Afterwards we girls (and Corban) headed home but made a long stop at IKEA. Meanwhile the guys took in a White Sox game (guess they were playing the Twins). Paul and Bob decided to leave after the top of the ninth inning (since the Sox were so behind) and ended up missing baseball history being made. So sorry Dan.

Real fans don't leave at the top of the ninth inning.
When we left at the top of the ninth the Twins were just pulling ahead of the Sox. It was 10 to 4 (Twins) by the end of the ninth. No way the Sox were going to dig themselves out of that hole. Or so we thought.
History was made in the comeback. They tied up in the bottom of the ninth and took the game 13 innings before they finally won it.
Quite a game. After we left anyway. But we are NOT true fans and the thought of getting home around 2 AM would not have appealed even if we had known it was going to be that long.
On another note, it was Big Ten night and they highlighted the universities. For the National Anthem they had a mens quartet from NIU sing. I could have listened to them all night long. Wow!
For Dad... It made White Sox history because it was the first time they had scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie a game up at 10, that was then won in the 13th, with the 1st baseman chewing bubblegum.
The last time it happend they tied the game up at 11, and it was, I believe, the catcher chewing bubblegum.
So history was made.
