This afternoon we went to the Chateaux de la Brede which has been in the Montesquieu family line for over 900 years until 2004 when the last living direct descendant died. The buildings now belong to the city of Bordeaux. The chateau was originally built in the 13th century. It is one of the few remaining chateaux with water in the mote as it is fed by a natural source. The Contess' (the one who just died) living room is preserved just how she had it with tapestries from the 17th century from Flanders, other extremely old furniture and a television and telephone! It was really cool to see the generational changes. As you can tell they really like red, and so did we!
